The Little Village Arts Festival began in the summer of 2006.
Enlace, a
community development corporation based in Little Village, gave out grants for summer art programming. At the end of the summer, a celebration was planned to showcase the success of the programs. Organizers quickly realized that what they really should plan was an art festival celebrating the entire Little Village
Community. Within a month, they had a 2 day event with 7 locations and dozens of local artists.
At the end of the first day, festival organizers decided that this needed to be an annual event and that those involved needed meet more often than once a year. Monthly Artist Cafes were held and by the following spring, planning for Little Village Arts Fest 2007 was underway.
We have grown a lot in these 4 years, and can't wait to see what will happen in the future.
